Quick recipe for foodies

img_1229So, lately, I have been working with and trying out Blue Apron, so I thought that I would share a recipe a really fell in love with this past week.

For those of you who may not know what Blue Apron is, it is a food service that sends recipes (along with all the items needed) to your door each week. The ingredients are fresh and overall it just makes cooking fun because you aren’t eating the same old meals you usually do. You can also control what type of meat/poultry products you want to receive. There is also a vegetarian option.

Anyway, blah blah blah’s aside. I wanted to share my recipe from this week, because I am seriously in love with it.

img_1227Now, I don’t typically eat pork, but the Lemongrass Roasted Pork was great. It’s a little bit of sweet and a little bit of salty, and I think that’s why I love it so much. Also the link before, shows the complete recipe with step-by-step instructions.

It consists of pork, jasmine rice, a sweet chili sauce, and cauliflower. The best part of Blue Apron is that they literally send you everything you need to make the recipe. The only thing you need to supply is oil, salt, and pepper. What’s also great is the recipes are usually 500-700 calories, so the meals are great if you are a healthy eater.

Now if you do want to give it a try, I do have a link you can use for 3 free meals >> http://bit.ly/shawnadawnxBA

If you have any other questions about it before you give it a try, just comment below or message me on Twitter/Instagram.

Speaking of food, I am super excited about the holidays coming up. What are some of your favourite holiday foods?

Trip photos!

babbeb.jpgHello my little beauties!

Today I just wanted to share my recent trip to Richmond, VA to the Virginia State Capitol. I am trying my best to keep my blog well-rounded, as I initially intended. I just get sucked into more beauty posts than anything, lol.

With this post, I just want to remind everyone to make it a point to spend some quality time with their families. While I did take a few photos, I tucked my phone away in order to get in that time. Life is so much bigger than our cell phone screens. Sometimes we miss amazing moments because we are more worried about composing our next tweet.buildin

There is so much negativity in the world, and unfortunately we can’t fix the whole world. However, we can enjoy the positive moments in our lives. When we feel down, or feelbricks that the world is a horrible place, we can mentally pull up those memories and think of what good there is.

Our little family trip was unplanned and not outrageous. Just something spur of the moment and simple, yet it will now be a great memory, because for a moment the woes of the world were put aside for another time.

I think these moments are especially important when you have a young child, such as myself. If you aren’t paying attention to these moments, one day they’ll just be gone and you’ll be wondering how you missed it all. This goes for friends and family, pay attention, or the next thing you know, the best times of your life are behind you and you can’t remember because you were too busy behind the screen of your phone.

Live a little.

whitebuildingWith that aside, this trip was beautiful. And hot. Very hot, oh my gosh. We had fun though, it was somewhere different we got to explore and see as a family. Something new for us all. I think that is the best thing, experiencing something new with those you love. Experiences are nothing without someone to share them with.

This post was supposed to outline our little trip, but took another turn. I think it was something we all need to hear sometimes. With so much technology, sometimes we just need to be foundationreminded to live in the now.

Don’t forget that.

What are some of your favourite places to visit?

I hope you enjoyed my little tirade and photos, and I will talk to you all next week!

xx

Holiday trip & news

Hello my lovelies!IMG_7568

First off, the giveaway has ended and I will be using this weekend to double check that I have all the entries in. I will announce the winner mid month and send out their Colourpop order. So thank you to everyone who participated, it was such a great turn out and I hope to do another one around 1,000 or 1,500 followers with a bigger giveaway. I wanted to start out small this first go around.

So, I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend and were safe (I know it can get crazy  on holiday weekends, especially traffic wise). I figured I would use this post to share my weekend with you guys. I feel like I sometimes forget that this is also a lifestyle blog. I just get so caught up in playing with all my new make up! Don’t we all? Along with this IMG_7639Memorial Day weekend, I got to attend a wedding, and it was just such a great trip with great views.

My favourite part about this trip was some of the great wall art I caught glimpses of. One in particular I turned around for. It was such a beautiful Prince tribute and just had to share it with you guys.

The wedding I had the chance to attend was so beautiful as well. It was so white and crisp and was just lovely. I am really thankful for this trip, it was so relaxing. There is IMG_7651something about driving for hours that is just really inticing. Traveling is such a great opportunity if you let it be. It really reminds us to take the time to enjoy things, whether it is lavish or just the side of the road with the right person.

What did you guys do over your long weekend?

First is a necklace from the House of Harlow 1960 line and is one of my favourites from this box.

earringsThese Sophia Harper studs are also really nice and simple, and I am in love with them.

neckI also received this fringe necklace from the Slate line. It’s cute, but I feel its too much for me but still very cute and fun. (Also ignore my face in this picture, I just look so blah.)

I went blonde!

Hola lovelies!

So for those of you who may not keep up with me on my social media sites (which I will list below later) I have went blonde! Now, I am a natural blonde so it isn’t anything new to me, but it has been a while since I have actually had blonde hair. And boy, is it going to take some getting used to.

Also, I must say I have some of the strongest hair. Between how much colour and bleach I put on it, it has still yet to fry.

So 7 hours at the salon and here are my results!

It was such a process. If you have seen my Instagram, or even my blog avi, then you understand. By time I left the salon I was ready for a nap.

2 rounds of bleaching, intense reconstruction therapy, and a round of toner later I am once again a blonde.

For those of you interested in keeping up with me on social media here you go (also feel free to drop links to your social media for me and other bloggers to follow):

Mid-week hello

Hello my loves!

Just dropping by to give a mid-week hello and to see what everyone is up to.
For those of you who don’t know: I love reading as much as I love make up.

I just finished the second to last book in The Maddox Brothers series by Jamie McGuire. Definitely worth checking out.

What is everyone currently reading? Or what is your favourite book/book series?
