Hi Shawna’s readers, it’s Andreia from LifeMakeUpStyle . I’m here to do a guest post about my favourite hair tools and products. I recently came across Shawna’s blog and commented on one of her posts. We got chatting on her comments about there not being a Sephora here in the UK and then exchanged email addresses. We decided to do a guest post for each other’s blog. So make sure you check out my blog to see Shawna’s post Top 5 Beauty Hacks.
So until 23/12/2015 I had extremely long hair. Like, it was so long that I had to move it to the side before sitting down because otherwise I would sit on my own hair! I decided to cut it into what’s known as a lob (long bob). I wanted to start 2016 with a brand new look. Let me tell you even though I loved my long hair, and miss it, cutting it was the best decision ever. When my hair was long it would take me over 3 hours to wash, dry and straighten it. On top of it being long I also have very thick and curly hair.
These heat tools, products, and brushes helped me a lot with my hair when it was long and I thought that when I cut it I would have to change them all but I found that they work just as well if not better on my new hair.
Tools : So my first tool is my hair dryer.
This hair dryer is by TRESemmé. This model is the 2200 Smooth model. I love to use it without the nozzle first until I get my hair 60% dry and then I put the concentrator nozzle on and blow dry it straight with a round brush. I love this dryer because its lightweight and easy to use. Afterwards, I use the cold setting to help lock in the shine.
Next is my TRESemmé Keratin Smooth hair straightener.
Here in the UK the biggest hair tool brand is GHD but I personally prefer this straightener and on the plus side it’s cheaper. I chose the Keratin Smooth model because like I mentioned earlier my hair is very thick and this leaves my hair feeling very smooth. It’s very light which I think is important because the last thing you want is a sore wrist when doing your hair. It’s great quality too. I’ve had it for over a year and the heat plates still look brand new.
Can you tell I like TRESemmé? My curling iron is the Keratin Smooth model as well.
It has 3 heat settings and comes with a cute little glove so that you don’t so that you don’t burn your hands when holding the hair. I use it to create loose waves.
Brushes : So now for the brushes. I have a lot more hairbrushes but these are my essentials. A regular hairbrush, a large round brush, a teasing comb and a rat tail comb.
I chose this regular plastic hairbrush because I like to brush my hair in the shower and this one is easy to dry. The teasing comb I use to create volume. I got the teasing comb and the regular brush from a store in the UK called B&M. My round brush is by a brand Franck Provost and I got it at TKMaxx, that I used to blow dry my hair.
I also use a rat tail comb to section hair and to help me straighten my hair. Mine is by Andre Barton and I got it from ASDA.
Another important tool is hair clips. I use these to hold my hair whilst straightening it in sections.
Products : Lastly the products. A hair post would not be a hair post without mentioning at least 1 product.
I have 4 go-to products. The product your probably wondering most about is the Hawaiian Tropic Aloe Vera Gel. Well I will tell you one of my little secrets. I have a very dry scalp and with that usually comes dandruff and I hate dandruff. So I use this on my hair. I just put it all over my scalp, leave it for 10-20 minutes and then wash my hair as normal. Aloe Vera is very hydrating and leaves my hair shiny. After washing, whilst my hair is damp I spray the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth heat protection spray. It works great with all my TRESemmé heat tools. Once my hair is straight I pump a small pea size amount of this John Frieda Frizz-Ease hair serum on my palm, rub my hands together and finger brush it all through my hair. Lastly is my favourite hairspray which is the Wella Silvkrin Classic hairspray in maximum hold.
I hope you all enjoy reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it. Make sure you go on over to my blog to read Shawna’s post Top 5 Beauty Hacks.
